Self-Employment from the Heart

Self-employment has a lot of tasks associated!

Lots of work!

I launched into self-employment in 2012. Many budding therapists have come to me asking questions on launching their practices, timid and lacking confidence to forge independently..now blossomed into fulfilling careers with a lot more ease.

I love learning and have taken on alll the aspects of business ownership, from taxes and tools to building this website. The most important thing I’ve learned, is how much influence our *mindset* has on success. Relationships to money and boundaries, beliefs about worth, fear of failure and success.. all of these matter! It’s important for business owners to be continually reflecting and challenging limiting beliefs if we want to break past them.

The other big thing I’ve learned is to never underestimate the value of support and community. None of us can do it alone! There’s a lot of marketing resources out there, and it’s overwhelming to sift through. Some feel uncomfortably ‘salesy’..this is not me. I simply want to facilitate growth and efficiency where I can. If a marketing tactic is inauthentic to who you are, it just won’t work!

One of my assets for self-employment is my appeal for variety and interest in detail. This helps me take on all of the different hats to juggle in running a business! Outsourcing can be great if you have the money, but interviewing is a whole other skill set to develop! I chose to start small, research cost-effective tools and applicable regulations. I may end up hiring someone in the long run, and it’s important to ask the right questions. Consulting with CPAs, attorneys, others in the field, and being open to opportunities that cross my path has given me a wealth of information that increase my confidence so I can put my energy toward the work I love.

If you’re self-employed and envision benefits of connecting and discussing the birds-eye view of your business, I’m happy to chat with you and share resources. Feel free to drop me a line!
