Therapy is often viewed with a goal of reducing symptoms, especially when a diagnosis is involved. What I am offering is more forward-reaching. It is not about reducing symptoms, so much as elevating you to greater happiness! A mentor sets aside their own agenda to help you pursue what’s important to you.
Insurance may cover costs of support for a therapist, but will not cover support of coaching or mentorship. However, if you are self-employed, our consultation sessions may be a tax write-off for you!
Amongst therapists, life coaching sometimes gets a bad rap. The depth of training psychotherapists undergo is significant, and therapists can be wary about life coaching as an unregulated field, concerned that clients may not get the adequately trained support they deserve. I agree this can sometimes be true, however, I am a licensed California Marriage and Family Therapist, and I am moving more toward a guidance consultant business structure, as it gives me the freedom to support people beyond California borders, and without the impositions insurance companies create.
